So, where to point my future career of geekery?
In a moment of frenzied introspection - well, I say moment, but it’s been going on for the last month or so - I sat down and tried to work out what I’m doing and where I’m going.
I’ve just finished my two-week foundation course for my Masters in IT. The whole experience itself was reasonably painless, since it felt aimed towards those who’d been out of education for a while and needed a refresher on things like referencing (boo Harvard, Vancouver for economy of space, and, indeed, the win).
The problem now is choosing what I’m actually going to do, regarding picking modules and generally deciding where to point my future career.
XHTML, CSS, PHP etc. make up the bulk of my experience to date, so I think I’m going to have to set sail and coast the seven internets for the rest of my working life. Especially since the software development process, while appealing, is going to come with its own set of problems with working in another language. Which would be fine if I was fluent, but I’m around 2kyu at best.
Working with t’internet would seem to be free of that, but I’m not sure the prospects are as good for an expat, be it here or preferably in Taiwan :/
What to do…
