Pink Sakura Doraemon for cherry blossom season
Ahh, cherry blossom season. How I love your pretty pink petals, obligatory work-related parties and subsequent liver damage, and seasonal product placement opportunities.
Fortunately, I’ll be able to cuddle a new pink Doreamon plushie to ease my battered guts. This two-tone pink and white “Sakura Doraemon” made his debut at the SK Japan booth at the AOU 2008 arcade game expo over the weekend, and also comes in keyring form. There’s also a cushion version, shaped like Big D’s favourite dorayaki, and which shows the robotic moggy himself when looked at straight on, and some pink sweet beans when viewed from the side.
SK reckons that any deviations from the usual blue are pretty rare, and are predictably pitching the Hanami Version at female fans.
Expect to see suitably stressed-looking J-boys scrabbling to show off their crane driving skillz — while their other halves froth at the mouth and squeal “AAAAAH TEH KEWTNESS!!1″ — at arcades from March. But if they’re smart, they’ll get some tips on UFO catching first:
Original story at Mantanweb (Japanese).
