meet-me announces 1000-strong parade through virtual Tokyo

Japan’s homegrown Sadville Second Life clone meet-me is holding a thousand-strong parade through the streets of virtual Tokyo next week.
The parade, designed to load test the alpha version meet-me servers in some of the real Tokyo’s busier areas, will see 1000 virtual Tokyoites make the trek from staging areas in Roppongi and Shinjuku to Hachiko Plaza in Shibuya - although in the latter case, presumably without the roadworks that make me want to commit bloody murder every time I see a pair of baggy blue trousers.
A six-month free pass to meet-me’s central Tokyo area will be handed out to everyone who joins in, which registered users can apply for by clicking 土地無料貸出キャンペーンのお申し込み after logging in. (Sign up for meet-me here.) Participants will be chosen at random on Feb. 20, and the parade itself takes place at 10pm (GMT+9) on Feb. 25.
I wonder how this whole thing is going to turn out. Despite some rather amusing suggestions that meet-me won’t turn into a greased-up free-for-all of furries and electric nipple-clamping, let’s just say that you’re all still advised to send me large stacks of real yens and invest in the Dr. Rogg Giant Tentacle Pr0n Emporium without delay.
