Convenience is king

The topic of convenience in shopping in Japan is one that quite honestly deserves far more space than I’m actually going to give it.

Suffice it to say:

  • It’s 1:14 am.
  • I leave for home in 4 absolutely jam-packed days.
  • I need a motorbike cover for Betty to cover her shame while I’m gone.

A quick Google reveals a 24-hour Don Quixote a 10 minute ride from my house, that manages to fix me up for about 3700 yen.

That, my friends, is convenience.

A reason to run

I only really started running during my last year of university. At the time, it was more a way of getting away from my dissertation and thus reducing the risk of hurling my various computers out of the 11th floor window in SHEER MANLY RAGE. That said, it was fun, in a kind of masochistic way, and while I went out maybe once every couple of months or so after I moved to Tokyo, I did miss the regular thrice-a-week schedule I’d once kept. Buying books in Tokyo

I’m trying to be good and save dosh at the moment, but every so often I have a relapse and splurge on books. A couple of days ago I had just a moment of weakness in Junkudo, but at the last moment common sense kicked in and I whittled my shopping basket contents down from about 10 (inc. big glossy photo collections) to 3. I think I did pretty well.
